Look at the Direction You Want to Go

Look forward, not back.

Surfing is one hobby I am constantly working to master. Whenever I am in the water, I hear lessons in the water going on. Surf instructors yell at their students trying to ride waves, “Look at the beach!”

Looking at the beach accomplishes a few things:

  • The student focuses on their goal of staying on their board.

  • The board goes straight, en route to the beach.

  • The student gets to ride a wave as it travels to the shore.

On a surfboard, you need to look where you want to go. If you look forward, you’ll stay up and have an enjoyable ride. If you look down, you’ll fall off. Ask me how I know. 😂

This spring season has brought a lot of things to let go of.

After reflecting, taking lessons and being accountable after reflection, I am shifting my focus. I’m ready to continue to look forward.
